Origin

Sheesham wood originates from the Dalbergia sissoo, also known as the Indian Rosewood. It is a tree native to India and parts of the sub Himalaya, especially Pakistan and Nepal.

Advantages

1) Each slice of Sheesham wood has its own distinctive colour and it can be easily hand waxed, giving it a smooth exterior.

2) Sheesham wood is extremely durable and resists dry wood termites.

3) Sheesham wood neither splits nor warps, so it is commonly used to make door and door frames.

4) It has an inherent resistance to deterioration and has widespread use for engraving and woodcarving work.

5) It exhibits a brilliant shine when polished and offers a smooth finish.
